                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of July 19, 1974 (No.175), entitled "An act
     2     requiring public agencies to hold certain meetings and
     3     hearings open to the public and providing penalties,"
     4     redefining "formal action."

     5     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     6  hereby enacts as follows:
     7     Section 1.  The definition of "formal action" in section 1,
     8  act of July 19, 1974 (No.175), entitled "An act requiring public
     9  agencies to hold certain meetings and hearings open to the
    10  public and providing penalties," is amended to read:
    11     Section 1.  As used in this act:
    12     * * *
    13     "Formal action" means the taking of any vote on any
    14  resolution, rule, order, motion, regulation or ordinance or the
    15  setting of any official policy. Meetings, pre-trial conferences,
    16  hearings, and formal action by the judiciary or judicial branch
    17  except meetings of youth study center boards shall not be
    18  subject to the provisions of this act.
    19     Section 2.  This act shall take effect immediately.
