AN ACT 1 Amending the act of February 1, 1966 (1965 P.L.1656, No.581), 2 entitled "An act concerning boroughs, and revising, amending 3 and consolidating the law relating to boroughs," further 4 providing for intergovernmental cooperation, joint ownership 5 and maintenance. 6 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 7 hereby enacts as follows: 8 Section 1. Section 2711 of the act of February 1, 1966 (1965 9 P.L.1656, No.581), known as The Borough Code, is amended to 10 read: 11 Section 2711. Intergovernmental Cooperation, Joint Ownership 12 and Maintenance.--[Any two or more boroughs, or a borough with 13 any city or township, or a borough with a county, may jointly 14 acquire property for, and operate and maintain, any recreation 15 places. Any borough or boroughs shall have power to join with 16 any school district in equipping, operating and maintaining 17 recreation places, and may appropriate money therefor.] (a) For
1 the purpose of acquiring property for, creating, equipping, 2 operating or maintaining a park, playground, playfield, 3 gymnasium, public bath, swimming pool or indoor recreation 4 center or public recreation area and similar facility or program 5 for public use, the borough may cooperate or join with any one 6 or more of any of the following: 7 (1) A local government in accordance with 53 Pa.C.S. Ch. 23 8 Subch. A (relating to intergovernmental cooperation). 9 (2) A nonprofit corporation. 10 (b) A borough cooperating or joining with a nonprofit 11 corporation, as authorized under subsection (a) and except as 12 otherwise provided by law, shall comply with applicable 13 statutory requirements governing competitive bidding, written or 14 telephonic price quotations and execution of contracts. 15 Section 2.
