A RESOLUTION
Designating October 21, 2015, as "Biomedical Research Day" in
Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, The biomedical research community in the United
States and especially in this Commonwealth is recognized as a
world leader in discoveries which promote health and the
treatment of disease; and
WHEREAS, Virtually every major medical advancement in the
past century has depended upon biomedical research; and
WHEREAS, These advances include the prevention and treatment
of cancer, discoveries of vaccines for the prevention of
measles, mumps, polio and hepatitis and medications to treat
high blood pressure, arthritis and mental illness among many
others; and
WHEREAS, Biomedical research has helped increase the life
