A RESOLUTION
1Designating October 22, 2013, as "Kappa Alpha Psi Day" in
2Pennsylvania.
3WHEREAS, Since its inception in January 1911 at Indiana
4University at Bloomington, Indiana, Kappa Alpha Psi has promoted
5the spiritual, intellectual and moral welfare of its members and
6the ideals of advocacy and service on behalf of members'
7communities and the public interest; and
8WHEREAS, Originally chartered and incorporated in Indiana as
9Kappa Alpha Nu on May 15, 1911, the fraternity became known as
10Kappa Alpha Psi in April 1915; and
11WHEREAS, "Achievement in every field of human endeavor" was
12adopted as the fraternity's founding motto; and
13WHEREAS, With hundreds of active undergraduate and alumni
14chapters, Kappa Alpha Psi has consistently advanced the academic
15pursuits and aspirations of its members in keeping with the
1highest principles of inclusion; and
2WHEREAS, The City of Philadelphia is the site of the
3fraternity's international headquarters; and
4WHEREAS, The Kappa Alpha Psi Foundation, a nonprofit,
5publicly supported organization, advances the fraternity's
6philanthropic goals; and
7WHEREAS, The House of Representatives commends Kappa Alpha
8Psi for its impressive record of service in this Commonwealth
9and beyond; therefore be it
10RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate October
1122, 2013, as "Kappa Alpha Psi Day" in Pennsylvania.
