        INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,
           JUNE 5, 1996

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Observing the week of June 3 through 9, 1996, as "National
     2     Fishing Week" in Pennsylvania.

     3     WHEREAS, The week of June 3 through 9, 1996, has been
     4  designated as "National Fishing Week"; and
     5     WHEREAS, For 17 years, "National Fishing Week" has encouraged
     6  Americans to fish, learn about natural resources stewardship and
     7  applaud the efforts of the nation's resource management
     8  professionals and volunteers; and
     9     WHEREAS, "National Fishing Week" is sponsored by Federal and
    10  State agencies, the sportfishing industry, private enterprises
    11  and civic and conservation organizations. It is one of the
    12  largest public-private partnerships in America; and
    13     WHEREAS, Forty-five states and the District of Columbia will
    14  offer free fishing days in 1996 to introduce citizens to angling
    15  and encourage one-time anglers to try the sport again. More than
    16  500,000 Americans are expected to participate in "National
    17  Fishing Week" activities; therefore be it

     1     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives observe the week
     2  of June 3 through 9, 1996, as "National Fishing Week," and
     3  encourage residents of this Commonwealth to take the opportunity
     4  to participate in a sport that is truly universal.
