        INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,
           JUNE 4, 1996

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Commemorating the 100th Anniversary of Silverdale Borough.

     2     WHEREAS, Prior to 1855 a store was built on the corner of
     3  Comleyville Mud Road and Perkasie Road, now known as Routes 113
     4  and 152 or Main and Walnut Streets; and
     5     WHEREAS, The town of six homes was known as Paletown because
     6  of the fence that ran along the front of the store on
     7  Comleyville Mud Road; and
     8     WHEREAS, By 1870 the town had grown and the name was changed
     9  to Portland; and
    10     WHEREAS, In 1876 the name was changed to Lawndale, and a post
    11  office was established in 1883; and
    12     WHEREAS, In 1889 Comleyville Mud Road was renamed Souderton-
    13  Dublin Turnpike, with toll booths located every few miles. The
    14  Silverdale toll booth was located at the Diamond Street
    15  intersection; and
    16     WHEREAS, Silverdale Borough was officially incorporated
    17  December 11, 1896, its name having been changed the year before;

     1  and
     2     WHEREAS, Silverdale Borough will be celebrating the 100th
     3  Anniversary of its incorporation throughout the month of June
     4  1996; therefore be it
     5     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives commemorate the
     6  100th Anniversary of Silverdale Borough and commend its
     7  residents on their efforts in celebrating this historic
     8  occasion.
