                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Memorializing Congress to include full insurance parity
     2     legislation in the final version of the Fiscal Year 2002
     3     Labor-Health and Human Services-Education spending bill (HR
     4     3061).

     5     WHEREAS, By a unanimous voice vote, the United States Senate
     6  has passed full insurance parity legislation as an amendment to
     7  an unrelated spending bill covering the Department of Labor and
     8  Industry, the Department of Health and Human Services and the
     9  Department of Education (HR 3061/S 1536); and
    10     WHEREAS, This action again puts the United States Senate on
    11  record in support of nondiscriminatory insurance coverage of
    12  treatment for mental illness; and
    13     WHEREAS, The effort to enact full parity legislation this
    14  year now shifts to the United States House of Representatives,
    15  which has historically been less receptive to efforts to
    16  establish Federal standards for health insurance coverage;

     1  therefore be it
     2     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the
     3  Commonwealth of Pennsylvania memorialize the Congress of the
     4  United States to support including full insurance parity
     5  legislation in the final version of the Fiscal Year 2002 Labor-
     6  Health and Human Services-Education spending bill (HR 3061); and
     7  be it further
     8     RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to
     9  the members of Congress from Pennsylvania.
