        INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,
           JUNE 5, 2007

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Honoring the life and extending condolences for the supreme
     2     sacrifice of Captain Mark T. Resh of Killeen, Texas, formerly
     3     of Fogelsville, Pennsylvania, who was killed in active duty
     4     on January 28, 2007, in a helicopter crash in Iraq.

     5     WHEREAS, Capt. Resh, who was 28 years of age, was serving
     6  with the United States Army as an S4 Logistics Officer; and
     7     WHEREAS, Capt. Resh piloted Apache helicopters as part of the
     8  1st Air Division, 1st Air Cavalry Brigade, 227th Aviation
     9  Regiment, 4th Attack Reconnaissance Battalion; and
    10     WHEREAS, Capt. Resh was a member of Morgenland United Church


     1  of Christ, Orefield; and
     2     WHEREAS, Capt. Resh earned the Eagle Scout Award in 1995; and
     3     WHEREAS, Capt. Resh was a 1996 graduate of Northwestern
     4  Lehigh High School, where he was a member of the National Honor
     5  Society, Mathematics Club and Student Council and captained the
     6  varsity soccer team in his senior year; and
     7     WHEREAS, Capt. Resh was a member of the Reserve Officers'
     8  Training Corps while attending the University of Pittsburgh and
     9  a summer intern with the Navy Research Laboratory in Virginia;
    10  and
    11     WHEREAS, Capt. Resh graduated summa cum laude from the
    12  University of Pittsburgh with a bachelor's degree in engineering
    13  in 2001; and
    14     WHEREAS, Capt. Resh bravely volunteered for his final mission
    15  in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, heroically defending
    16  Iraqi soldiers and his fellow servicepersons in fierce battle
    17  against hundreds of militants near Najaf, Iraq; therefore be it
    18     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives honor the life
    19  and extend condolences for the supreme sacrifice of Captain Mark
    20  T. Resh; and be it further
    21     RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to
    22  Mr. and Mrs. Charles T. Resh, 7964 Wertman Road, Fogelsville PA
    23  18051.
