INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35, MAY 6, 2009  

  

  

  

A RESOLUTION

Recognizing with sadness the supreme sacrifice of Private First

2

Class Aaron M. Genevie, who died on April 16, 2007, from

3

wounds sustained when his Humvee struck an improvised

4

explosive device while he was courageously serving our nation

5

in Iraq.

6

WHEREAS, Private First Class Aaron M. Genevie of Chambersburg

7

died when his Humvee hit an improvised explosive device in

8

Baghdad, Iraq, on April 16, 2007; and

WHEREAS, Pfc. Genevie paid the supreme sacrifice for his

2

nation in Operation Iraqi Freedom; and

3

WHEREAS, A 2003 graduate of McConnellsburg High School, Pfc.

4

Genevie had served in the Army since July 2005; and

5

WHEREAS, An assigned member of Troop B, 1st Squadron, 4th

6

Cavalry Regiment, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry

7

Division, based in Fort Riley, Kansas, Pfc. Genevie had been in

8

Iraq for two months on his first deployment; and

9

WHEREAS, Pfc. Genevie has been awarded the Purple Heart and

10

the Bronze Star Medal and is buried at Arlington National

11

Cemetery; and

12

WHEREAS, Pfc. Genevie is survived by his mother, Patricia

13

Genevie, and by his father, Girard Genevie, as well as numerous

14

friends; and

15

WHEREAS, The House of Representatives wishes to posthumously

16

honor Pfc. Genevie for his courageous service to our nation;

17

therefore be it

18

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize with

19

sadness the supreme sacrifice of Private First Class Aaron M.

20

Genevie, who died on April 16, 2007, while courageously serving

21

our nation in Iraq; and be it further

22

RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to

23

his mother at 2933 Leafmore Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202, so

24

that it may be shared by both parents.
