A RESOLUTION
Recognizing December 16, 2023, as "Wreaths Across America Day"
in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, The mission of Wreaths Across America began in 1992
when the owners of the Worcester Wreath Company delivered 5,000
wreaths to Arlington National Cemetery for placement at the
graves of deceased veterans and members of the United States
Armed Forces; and
WHEREAS, This tradition of recognizing the service and
sacrifices of veterans and fallen service members has grown over
the past three decades and is recognized in December; and
WHEREAS, Wreaths Across America first achieved its goal of
laying a wreath at every grave marker at Arlington National
Cemetery in 2014, and it has continued to expand its efforts
each year; and
WHEREAS, More than 2.7 million wreaths were placed on graves
in 2022; and

WHEREAS, Thanks to the generosity of thousands of volunteers
who work tirelessly to lay remembrance wreaths upon graves at
more than 3,700 locations nationwide, we share an opportunity to
reflect upon the unforgettable sacrifices of our nation's
military service members during the holiday season; and
WHEREAS, "Wreaths Across America Day" is a solemn occasion to
remember those who died in the course of their military service,
honor the dedication of all veterans and service members and
recognize the losses of the families of our fallen heroes; and
WHEREAS, Wreaths Across America's mission of "Remember,
Honor, Teach" reminds us all of the fundamental American values
of charity and service; and
WHEREAS, The 2023 theme for Wreaths Across America is "Serve
and Succeed"; and
WHEREAS, Pennsylvania has for many years held a ceremony in
the Main Rotunda of its State Capitol Building in Harrisburg to
memorialize the Wreaths Across America tradition; therefore be
it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize
December 16, 2023, as "Wreaths Across America Day" in
Pennsylvania; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives call upon all
residents of this Commonwealth to reflect on the service and
sacrifices of veterans, members of the United States Armed
Forces and their families.
