                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Requesting the Department of Public Welfare to institute an
     2     intensive educational program relating to the extensive
     3     changes in the Public Welfare Code concerning eligibility and
     4     work requirements.

     5     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     6  hereby resolves as follows:
     7     WHEREAS, The General Assembly, at the urging of the Governor,
     8  over the last three years enacted numerous and significant
     9  changes affecting the eligibility and work requirements for
    10  welfare recipients; and
    11     WHEREAS, Large numbers of Pennsylvanians are unaware of these
    12  significant and far-reaching modifications to the Public Welfare
    13  Code; and
    14     WHEREAS, As a result of these changes and improvements,
    15  welfare recipients in Pennsylvania presently contribute to the
    16  economic welfare of Pennsylvania; therefore be it
    17     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives request the
    18  Department of Public Welfare to institute an intensive


     1  educational program relating to the extensive changes in the
     2  Public Welfare Code concerning eligibility and work
     3  requirements; and be it further
     4     RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to
     5  the Secretary of Public Welfare.
