                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending Title 51 (Military Affairs) of the Pennsylvania
     2     Consolidated Statutes, establishing the Pennsylvania Military
     3     Child-Care Assistance Program and its operation.

     4     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     5  hereby enacts as follows:
     6     Section 1.  Title 51 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
     7  Statutes is amended by adding a section to read:
     8  § 7320.  Pennsylvania Military Child-Care Assistance Program.
     9     (a)  Establishment.--The Pennsylvania Military Child-Care
    10  Assistance Program is hereby established. The program shall pay
    11  for child care to Pennsylvania families who have one or more
    12  parents who are federally deployed for wartime service.
    13     (b)  Administration.--
    14         (1)  The department shall contract with a nonprofit


     1     entity to administer the program.
     2         (2)  The department shall promulgate guidelines and
     3     regulations necessary to administer the program.
     4     (c)  Eligibility.--
     5         (1)  Any qualified Pennsylvania resident who is serving
     6     in the active military, reserves or National Guard and who is
     7     currently deployed in an active military operation or
     8     national emergency shall be eligible.
     9         (2)  Residents who received child care prior to the
    10     deployment shall be eligible only for the cost of any
    11     additional hours of care which resulted from the deployment.
    12         (3)  A resident is ineligible for child care under this
    13     section if the resident receives child-care services from the
    14     United States military.
    15     (d)  Funding.--The Military Child-Care Assistance Program
    16  shall be funded by the Military Family Relief Fund established
    17  under section 7319 (relating to military family relief
    18  assistance).
    19     Section 2.  This act shall take effect immediately.
