INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35, MARCH 29, 2005
A RESOLUTION 1 Recognizing the week of April 4 through 10, 2005, as "National 2 Public Health Week" in Pennsylvania. 3 WHEREAS, "National Public Health Week" is an outreach effort 4 to deliver health promotion messages directly to the community, 5 ensuring that the general public and health professionals have 6 an opportunity to gain an appreciation for the vital impact of 7 public health on shaping a healthier future; and 8 WHEREAS, The theme for "National Public Health Week" is 9 "Empowering Americans to Live Stronger, Longer!"; and 10 WHEREAS, Public health services benefit the population of 11 this Commonwealth across all ethnic and socioeconomic strata of 12 our communities; and
1 WHEREAS, Adopting healthy behaviors is cost effective and 2 reduces the physical and emotional toll of illness; and 3 WHEREAS, Annual observance of "National Public Health Week" 4 in this Commonwealth increases awareness and understanding of 5 the importance of a strong public health policy that fosters 6 prevention, protection and planning; therefore be it 7 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize the 8 week of April 4 through 10, 2005, as "National Public Health 9 Week" in Pennsylvania and urge all residents of this 10 Commonwealth to incorporate health prevention, protection and 11 planning strategies into their daily lives.
