        INTRODUCED BY MOWERY, JONES, MILLER, PETERSON, CORNELL,
           SCHEAFFER, REED, ARTY AND GANNON, JANUARY 28, 1980

        REFERRED TO COMMITTEE ON RULES, JANUARY 29, 1980

                       In the House of Representatives, January 28, 1980

     1     WHEREAS, Statistics show that heart and circulatory diseases
     2  are the number one killer of Americans; and
     3     WHEREAS, Such diseases are the number one reason for
     4  admission of the elderly to long term care facilities; and
     5     WHEREAS, The American Health Care Association and its State
     6  affiliates have created and organized a program entitled the
     7  "Rock 'N Roll Jamboree" during which nursing home residents rock
     8  in rocking chairs, roll in wheel chairs or walk for pledges
     9  solicited by members of the community and the nursing home
    10  facility; and
    11     WHEREAS, During 1979, the Association and its State
    12  affiliates raised over one million dollars nationally and over
    13  $37,000 in the Commonwealth for the Heart Association; and
    14     WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania Health Care Association, in
    15  cooperation with the American Health Care Association, has
    16  organized and will sponsor "Rock 'N Roll Jamboree 1980" during
    17  the week of February 10 - 16, 1980; therefore be it

     1     RESOLVED (the Senate concurring), That the General Assembly
     2  of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, hereby recognizes the week
     3  of February 10 - 16, 1980, as Pennsylvania "Rock 'N Roll
     4  Jamboree Week," and urges all our citizens to lend their support
     5  to the efforts of their local nursing homes, the residents and
     6  the staff, in their fund raising activities.
