A RESOLUTION 1 Designating the month of October as "Learning Disabilities 2 Month." 3 WHEREAS, Nearly every individual's life is touched by 4 learning disabilities at sometime; and 5 WHEREAS, We are committed to equal educational opportunities 6 for all individuals in Pennsylvania; and 7 WHEREAS, Individuals with specific learning disabilities are 8 capable of achieving their full intellectual potential and, with 9 special help, can become self-supporting, valued and 10 contributing members of our society; and 11 WHEREAS, We realize that, although symptomatic improvement 12 may be obtained by educational, medical or psychological means, 13 the underlying handicap is of a severe and lifelong nature; and 14 WHEREAS, We as parents, educators, school boards, employers, 15 legislators, community leaders and other concerned individuals 16 and groups must combine community resources if we are to fully 17 meet this challenge; therefore be it
1 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate the 2 month of October as "Learning Disabilities Month" in 3 Pennsylvania, and urge all citizens to participate in the 4 special activities planned for this month and contribute any 5 resources that may help those individuals with learning 6 disabilities to become active and valued members of our society.
