                        In the House of Representatives, August 27, 1975

     1     WHEREAS, There is a growing crisis in Pennsylvania nursing
     2  home care because of the substantial difference that exists
     3  between the actual cost of nursing home care and the payments
     4  made by the Commonwealth under medical assistance for nursing
     5  home care; and
     6     WHEREAS, As a result of this crisis, there is a strong
     7  possibility that up to five thousand nursing home beds will be
     8  lost by July 1, 1976 if no action is taken; therefore be it
     9     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the
    10  Commonwealth of Pennsylvania memorializes the Governor to
    11  exercise his power to increase medical assistance payments by
    12  five dollars per diem for both skilled and intermediate level
    13  nursing home care; and be it further
    14     RESOLVED, That a copy of this document be delivered to The
    15  Governor of Pennsylvania, The Honorable Milton J. Shapp.
