A RESOLUTION 1 Directing the House Committee on Federal-State Relations to 2 investigate unemployment within the Commonwealth, especially 3 in regard to the impact of imported automobiles on the 4 State's steel and automobile-related industries. 5 WHEREAS, Imported automobiles have had a devastating effect 6 on the Commonwealth's steel, automobile and automobile-related 7 industries; and 8 WHEREAS, One result of this has been a high rate of 9 unemployment of Pennsylvania citizens associated with the above 10 mentioned industries; therefore be it 11 RESOLVED, That the House Committee on Federal-State Relations 12 undertake an immediate investigation of unemployment within the 13 Commonwealth, especially in regard to the steel, automobile and 14 automobile-related industries of Pennsylvania; and be it further 15 RESOLVED, That the committee also investigate the 16 availability of any subsidies made by the Federal Government for 17 exports from the United States; and be it further 18 RESOLVED, That the committee may hold hearings, take
1 testimony and make its investigations at such places as it deems 2 necessary in this Commonwealth. Each member of the committee 3 shall have power to administer oaths and affirmations to 4 witnesses appearing before the committee; and be it further 5 RESOLVED, That the committee make a report of its findings 6 and recommendations to the House of Representatives not later 7 than September 1, 1984.
