                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Designating April 25, 2007, as "Arts in Education Day" in
     2     Pennsylvania.

     3     WHEREAS, The arts allow for us as individuals, families and
     4  communities to liberate ourselves in a form of stylistic
     5  expression far beyond the simplicity of speaking; and
     6     WHEREAS, The arts inspire us to explore beyond cultural norms
     7  and barriers that may limit us and to experience creative
     8  thought and true diversity in this world; and
     9     WHEREAS, The arts provide us with another form of
    10  communicating and expressing our innermost thoughts, feelings,
    11  values and desires; and
    12     WHEREAS, Citizens rely on the arts to transcend cultural
    13  barriers, evoke universal emotions and reveal to us the ever-


     1  changing society in which we live; and
     2     WHEREAS, The arts encourage us to develop a deeper
     3  understanding of ourselves and our goals as Pennsylvanians, as
     4  Americans and as citizens in a global environment; and
     5     WHEREAS, The arts enrich many aspects of our lives which
     6  encompass the quality of our relationships, education, work
     7  environment, homes and communities; and
     8     WHEREAS, The arts reach people on many different levels
     9  regardless of age, race, background, physical and mental
    10  ability, gender, occupation or class; and
    11     WHEREAS, Arts education, whether in visual arts, music,
    12  dance, theater or literature strengthens the development of
    13  creativity, discipline and cognitive and social skills that are
    14  crucial in the preparation of all Pennsylvania's students for
    15  future growth; and
    16     WHEREAS, Arts educators provide our youths with the cultural
    17  education and intricate fundamentals to make them well-rounded
    18  individuals; and
    19     WHEREAS, Arts education programs in our schools enable young
    20  men and women to discover, cultivate and share unique talents as
    21  gifts to society; and
    22     WHEREAS, It is our privilege, enterprise and duty to sustain
    23  the gift of the arts, to enjoy it, to share it, to build upon it
    24  and to pass it on to future generations; therefore be it
    25     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate April
    26  25, 2007, as "Arts in Education Day" in Pennsylvania as a time
    27  to recognize the arts and arts educators and supporters for
    28  continued preservation and further development of the arts in
    29  this Commonwealth and to emphasize the invaluable contribution
    30  of the arts and arts educators to students in Pennsylvania and
