                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of October 10, 1975 (P.L.383, No.110), entitled
     2     "An act relating to the practice of physical therapy,"
     3     further providing for physical therapist assistants.

     4     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     5  hereby enacts as follows:
     6     Section 1.  Section 9.1(c) of the act of October 10, 1975
     7  (P.L.383, No.110), known as the Physical Therapy Practice Act,
     8  added December 20, 1985 (P.L.500, No.117), is amended to read:
     9     Section 9.1.  Physical Therapist Assistant; Education and
    10  Examination; Scope of Duties; Registration.--* * *
    11     (c)  A physical therapist assistant while assisting a
    12  licensed physical therapist in the practice of physical therapy
    13  shall only perform patient-related physical therapy acts and
    14  services that are assigned or delegated by and under either the
    15  direct on-premises supervision of a licensed physical therapist
    16  or the indirect supervision of a licensed physical therapist
    17  through 24-hour access to a licensed physical therapist. Such
    18  acts and services of a physical therapist assistant shall not

     1  include evaluation, testing, interpretation, planning or
     2  modification of patient programs. For purposes of this section
     3  the term "direct on-premises supervision" shall mean the
     4  physical presence of a licensed physical therapist on the
     5  premises who is immediately available to exercise supervision,
     6  direction and control.
