        REFERRED TO COMMITTEE ON RULES, MARCH 15, 1993

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Recognizing the accomplishment of Lend A Hand.

     2     WHEREAS, Lend A Hand, a south-central Pennsylvania-based
     3  relief effort, is a volunteer ministry of Christian Churches
     4  United formed to help individuals and families who were severely
     5  affected by the savagery of Hurricane Andrew; and
     6     WHEREAS, Its purpose is to provide a reliable system of
     7  transportation and labor assignments to volunteers who join in
     8  working to relieve the extraordinary hardship created by that
     9  hurricane; and
    10     WHEREAS, Lend A Hand has averaged two trips per month in
    11  October, November and December of 1992 and January of 1993 to
    12  south Florida's Dade County; and
    13     WHEREAS, At present, there are enough volunteers to operate


     1  two trips a month in February and March of 1993; and
     2     WHEREAS, Lend A Hand has proven itself to be one of the
     3  nation's largest and most consistent volunteer provider of
     4  relief to south Florida; and
     5     WHEREAS, Hundreds of volunteers have given their time and
     6  money to make Lend A Hand work; therefore be it
     7     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize the
     8  accomplishments of Lend A Hand and the volunteers who have made
     9  it work; and be it further
    10     RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be transmitted to
    11  Skip Becker, Lend A Hand, c/o Christian Churches United, 900
    12  South Arlington Avenue, Room 128, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania
