AN ACT
1 Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
2 Statutes, further providing for the issuance of temporary
3 registration cards and plates.
4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5 hereby enacts as follows:
6 Section 1. Sections 1307(b), 1310 and 1331(e) of Title 75,
7 act of November 25, 1970 (P.L.707, No.230), known as the
8 Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, added June 17, 1976 (No.81),
9 are amended to read:
10 § 1307. Period of registration.

12 (b) New registration.--A new registration is effective on
13 the date of issuance of a registration card by the department or
14 the date of issuance of a temporary registration card by an
15 [authorized] designated agent of the department under section
16 1310 (relating to temporary registration cards).

18 § 1310. Temporary registration cards.
19 (a) General rule.--The department shall provide temporary
1 registration cards for use pending issuance or transfer of
2 permanent registration cards. Temporary registration cards may
3 be delivered to designated agents (which shall include notaries
4 public) who shall have the authority to issue them in accordance
5 with regulations promulgated by the department.
6 (b) Duration.--Temporary registration cards shall be valid
7 for such period as the department shall designate.
8 (c) Charges by designated agent.--A designated agent (which
9 shall include a notary public) may not charge any fee for
10 issuing a temporary registration card other than notary fees.
11 § 1331. Issuance of registration plates.

13 (e) Issuance of plates by agents.--The department may
14 deliver registration plates, other than special plates, to
15 designated agents (which shall include notaries public), who
16 shall have the authority to issue them in conjunction with the
17 issuance of temporary registration cards.
18 Section 2. This act shall take effect immediately or July 1,
19 1977 whichever is later.
