AN ACT
1 Amending the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), entitled "An
2 act relating to the public school system, including certain
3 provisions applicable as well to private and parochial
4 schools; amending, revising, consolidating and changing the
5 laws relating thereto," authorizing establishment of courses
6 in display and history of the flag in secondary schools.
7 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
8 hereby enacts as follows:
9 Section 1. Subdivision (b) of Article XV., act of March 10,
10 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), known as the "Public School Code of 1949,"
11 is amended by adding a section to read:

15 (b) Prescribed Courses and Instruction.

17 Section 1521. Display and History of the Flag.--Any school
18 district may establish as part of the curriculum of secondary
19 schools within the district, a course in the proper display and
20 history of the flag, and may require satisfactory passage of a
1 test for such course prior to graduation of any pupil.
2 Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
