AMENDMENTS TO SENATE BILL NO. 711

Amend Bill, page 158, by inserting between lines 28 and 29

(3)  One percent of tax collected by the department under

3

subsection (a) shall be allocated to the Department of

4

Agriculture for the following purposes:

5

(i)  Sixty percent shall be used by the Pennsylvania

6

Higher Education Assistance Agency for the Agriculture

7

Education Loan Forgiveness Program established under the

8

act of June 26, 1992 (P.L.322, No.64), known as the

9

Agriculture Education Loan Forgiveness Act.

10

Notwithstanding the provisions of section 3(c) of that

11

act, qualified applicants who meet the provisions of

12

section 3(b)(3) of that act shall be eligible for a

13

maximum loan forgiveness award of $20,000 per year, for a

14

maximum total amount of $100,000.

15

(ii)  Thirty percent shall be used by the Department

16

of Agriculture for distribution to eligible county

17

agricultural societies, independent agricultural

18

societies and other organizations which conduct an annual

19

agricultural fair under the act of July 8, 1986 (P.L.437,

20

No.92), known as the Pennsylvania Agricultural Fair Act.

21

(iii)  Ten percent shall be used by the Department of

22

Agriculture for payments to each county agricultural

23

society that conducts harness racing at county

24

agricultural fairs for track and stable repair and

25

maintenance.
