Subject:	State Veterans Home Week - June 10-16

Please join us in co-sponsoring a resolution designating the week of June 10 to 16, 2018, as “State Veterans’ Homes Week” in Pennsylvania. This Resolution is designed to encourage citizens to visit the American heroes currently being cared for in one of the state’s six veterans’ homes; thank them for their sacrifices and service; and thank the staff and volunteers who provide exceptional care every day. For more than a century, the Commonwealth has tended to the needs of aging, ill and injured veterans in these state-supported homes. Under the auspices of the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, the staff provides personal care, skilled nursing care, domiciliary care and dementia care to more than 1,500 veterans and their spouses, in Erie, Hollidaysburg, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Scranton, and Spring City. In 2017, SR 136 was sponsored by Senators Vulakovich, Costa, Argall, Aument, Baker, Boscola, Brewster, Dinniman, Folmer, Fontana, Greenleaf, Hughes, Killion, Mensch, Rafferty, Reschenthaler, Scavello, Street, Tartaglione, Ward, White, and Yudichak.
