MEMORANDUM

To: All Senate members
Subject: The Wall that Heals Days at the State Capitol - May 9th through May 13th

In the near future, we plan to introduce a resolution recognizing May 9th through May 13th, 2018, as “The Wall that Heals Days” at the State Capitol.

The Pennsylvania State Capitol is hosting the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Foundation's The Wall That Heals, a 375-foot, chevron-shaped replica of the original Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial located on the National Mall in Washington, D.C.

The Wall that Heals travels across the United States, reminding us of the lives of 58,202 Americans that were lost in Vietnam. Out of that figure, there are 3,142 Pennsylvanians who perished while serving in Vietnam. Since its dedication, the Wall that Heals has visited more than 600 cities and towns throughout the nation, preserving the memories of the Vietnam era, and spreading the memorial’s healing legacy to millions of people.

On Wednesday, May 9th, The Wall That Heals will be welcomed to Pennsylvania at a special ceremony attended by Vietnam veterans, executive branch officials and state legislators. During the Wall that Heals' five-day visit to the Capitol, it will be accessible to public visitation 24 hours per day in the lawn in front of the K. Leroy Irvis Office Building.

Please join us in sponsoring this resolution. If you have any questions, please contact Nate Silcox of Sen. Vulakovich's Office (717-787-6538).
