Subject: | Designating November as “Homecare and Hospice Month” in Pennsylvania |
In the near future, I will be introducing a resolution to designate the month of November as Homecare and Hospice Month in the Commonwealth to honor the work that homecare, home health and hospice professionals do each day to keep medically fragile children, adults with disabilities and seniors living independently in their own homes. Homecare and hospice professionals provide care ranging from complex nursing tasks to rehabilitative therapy to assistance with activities of daily living to end-of-life care and bereavement counseling. Pennsylvania homecare providers are a unique partner in the healthcare continuum because they care for individuals with varying needs, whether it be a newborn with complex medical needs receiving pediatric shift nursing services or a centenarian receiving hospice care in the final days of life. Without the support of home-based care providers, many Pennsylvanians turn to institutions like nursing homes or hospitals for their care when what they really want is to be at home with their loved ones. Please join me in recognizing the great work that homecare and hospice providers do to contribute to our commonwealth. |
