Subject: | Military Community Enhancement Commission updates |
In the near future, I will be introducing legislation to correct two minor omissions related to the PA Military Community Enhancement Commission. In 2014, the Legislature enacted Act 161, which provides for the creation of the PA Military Community Enhancement Commission within DCED, related to the military installations within our Commonwealth. The current language of the Act provides for one senior military advisor who would be a three-star or four-star military officer. My proposed legislation would include the option of appointing a one-star and two-star military officer. By including the one-star and two-star military officer, this would open the possibilities of attracting a highly-qualified retired military officer who may not have attained the rank of a three-star or four-star military officer. Also, my proposed legislation would require that the senior level military advisor be a resident of this Commonwealth. Those are the only two changes to the original language. This legislation is similar to HB 547, sponsored by Rep. Readshaw |
