Subject:	Resolution Congratulating The Pennsylvania State University Wrestling Team

In the near future I will be introducing a resolution to congratulate the Pennsylvania State University wrestling team on its sixth NCAA Division I National Wrestling Team Championship in the past seven years, and seventh Championship overall. This second consecutive national title for the team broke the school’s record for points scored and marks the sixth team championship for head coach Cael Sanderson, solidifying him as one of the top five coaches in the sport’s history for the most number of championships. Furthermore, five of the Penn State Wrestlers, Zain Retherford, Jason Nolf, Vincenzo Joseph, Mark Hall and Bo Nickal won individual NCAA titles in their respective weight classes, two of whom were freshman, while another earned his second consecutive title as a junior. The team also exemplified strong academic excellence with nearly half of its roster being named to the 2017 Winter Academic All-Big Ten Conference team for having individual grade point averages over a 3.00. Furthermore, wrestler Geno Morelli earned the Big Ten’s annual Wayne Duke Postgraduate Award for his intentions to continue with postgraduate education while maintaining a 3.95 grade point average and achieving academic, athletic, leadership and extracurricular successes. Please join me in congratulating these young men on their outstanding efforts both on the mat and in the classroom.
