Subject: | Option for Sunday Car Sales |
In the near future I will re-introduce Senate Bill 1095. This legislation which will allow car dealerships to be open on Sundays. Sunday is the second largest shopping day of the week. This will give consumers increased flexibility and options to research, review, and purchase automobiles. Pennsylvania is one of only 17 remaining states that does not permit Sunday sales. This puts dealerships that are located near neighboring states at a competitive disadvantage. Ohio, West Virginia permit Sunday sales, Maryland has some restrictions on Sunday sales but are permitted to be open on various Sundays. Currently the state of New Jersey is also considering Sunday sales legislation. This bill would not mandate that a dealership be open on Sunday - it would merely give them the option. Car sales are more competitive than ever in this global economy. The option to remain open on a Sunday can give dealerships the competitive edge they deserve. Co-sponsors from last session were Senators BREWSTER, YUDICHAK, FONTANA, VULAKOVICH, COSTA, DINNIMAN, BARTOLOTTA, AUMENT and FARNESE |
