Subject: | National Small Business Week - May 1-7, 2016 |
In the near future, I will introduce a resolution recognizing May 1-7, 2016 as National Small Business Week in Pennsylvania. Small businesses provide a critical backbone to our economy. According to the Small Business Administration (“SBA”), more than half of American workers own or are employed at a small business, including almost 2.5 million in the Commonwealth. These companies create two out of every three new jobs in our country. Small businesses foster cooperation within neighborhoods and create local jobs. They are key partners with the state in creating solutions for community revitalization, employment opportunities and infrastructure investments. They are also ideal incubators for innovation, whose ideas and services continue to reshape the 21st century economic landscape. The SBA touts that small businesses produce 16 times more patents per employee than large patenting firms in the U.S. It is important for all Pennsylvanians to recognize the important role small businesses play in our daily lives and economic well-being. Please join me in co-sponsoring this resolution. |
