Subject:	Community Banking Month

I will soon be introducing a resolution designating the month of April as “Community Banking Month.” This resolution recognizes the more than 180 community banks in this Commonwealth that continue the tradition of giving back to their local communities through nearly 1,200 banking offices. Community banks know that when money stays in a town it becomes a renewable resource, creating an economic cycle that constantly revitalizes and stimulates local communities. These banks have made significant contributions to the economic well-being of the Commonwealth through their financial support, their dedication as good neighbors and, above all, their service as financially sound and reliable sources of economic lifeblood in our communities. Please join me in recognizing the many valuable efforts of community banks by designating April as “Community Banking Month.”
