Subject: | Co-Sponsorship of Resolution: Hispanic Heritage Month in Pennsylvania |
In the near future, I intend to introduce a resolution that would designate September 15 through October 15 as Hispanic Heritage Month in Pennsylvania in recognition of the achievements of Hispanic Americans in this state. Since 1988, the U.S. has acknowledged the contributions of Hispanic Americans in this nation through a federal proclamation. Today, as the largest and fastest growing minority ethnic group in the United States, Hispanics represent over 800,000 residents in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, alone. Through notable contributions at work and in the community, Hispanics have enriched the lives of residents throughout this state. Not only have they have played a significant role in the development of Pennsylvania's historical prominence, but also, they have demonstrated a commitment to its future progress and wellbeing. This resolution encourages all Pennsylvanians to celebrate the diversity and rich culture that make our Commonwealth and nation so extraordinary by proclaiming September 15th through October 15th as Hispanic Heritage Month in Pennsylvania. I hope you will join me in co-sponsoring this resolution. |
