| Subject: | Pro Bono Week Resolution |
| Please join me in co-sponsoring a resolution designating the week of October 25, 2015 through October 31, 2015 as “Pro Bono Week” in Pennsylvania. Pro bono, short for “pro bono publico”, is a Latin term meaning “for the public good.” In Pennsylvania, most attorneys throughout the state provide voluntary legal assistance to individuals and families in all areas of law, enhancing access to justice for all. In 2014, over 100,000 hours of pro bono services were provided by attorneys in our state. The Pennsylvania Bar Association is joining with the American Bar Association to sponsor this October’s annual National Pro Bono Week celebration. This is an opportunity for all of us to recognize the difference that lawyers make in their communities in recruiting and training more pro bono volunteers; and the good work they do for our Commonwealth’s neediest citizens.
