Subject: | CPR Training Program for High School Students |
I plan to introduce legislation focused on the importance of reducing death from the more than 326,000 cardiac arrests that occur outside of a hospital each year, and helping to prepare individuals to save lives through cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED). Specifically, this legislation would add a hands-only, 30-minute CPR training program to the state education curriculum for high school students. This initiative is a priority of both the American Heart Association and Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Heart Association. 21 other states have adopted this policy, most recently West Virginia and Delaware. |
