Subject: | Resolution – Commemorating the 100th Anniversary of the Harrisburg Jewish Community Center |
In the near future, I will introduce a resolution commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Harrisburg Jewish Community Center, an organization with which I have been involved with as a student, parent, employee, volunteer, board member and supporter throughout my whole life. Jewish immigrants began settling in the Harrisburg area in the 1840s. They gathered in their respective synagogues, and in 1915, Leon Lowengard established a community center at which the synagogues could unite. Today, the Jewish Community Center provides a centralized meeting location and offers support to its members and organizations. The year 2015 marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Jewish Community Center of Harrisburg. The celebration will include monthly events for the entire year of 2015. It will conclude with the Big Night event on December 5th. Please join me in commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Harrisburg Jewish Community Center by co-sponsoring this important resolution. |
