Senate of Pennsylvania
Session of 2015 - 2016 Regular Session

MEMORANDUM

Posted: December 22, 2014 01:49 PM
From: Senator John H. Eichelberger, Jr.
To: All Senate members
Subject: Requiring Supermajority Vote for Tax Increases

I plan to re-introduce a Joint Resolution which would propose an amendment to the Pennsylvania Constitution. That amendment would require a two-thirds (2/3) vote in each house of the General Assembly before approval of any legislation to either increase the rate of existing taxes or licensing fees, or to impose a new tax or license fee.

Co-sponsors of the legislation (SB 306) in the 2013-2014 session were:
VOGEL, FOLMER, RAFFERTY, HUTCHINSON, WAUGH AND D. WHITE.

Please join me in sponsoring this important taxpayer protection.

Introduced as SB325
