Subject: Property tax Cut for Firefighters
 
I will re-introduce legislation, SB 559, an amendment to the Constitution of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to require local governments and school districts to give each volunteer firefighter and emergency medical technician a 15% discount on their individual (non-business) real estate taxes if they volunteer at least 100 hours every year and initially for at least 2 consecutive years.

Many communities are having a very difficult time recruiting and keeping trained, volunteer firefighters and EMT’s. This legislation will help provide a tremendous incentive to men and women who help their communities.
