Senate of Pennsylvania
Session of 2013 - 2014 Regular Session

MEMORANDUM

Posted: December 5, 2012 03:00 PM
From: Senator Elder A. Vogel, Jr.
To: All Senate members
Subject: Reduce the Size of the Legislature

In the near future, I intend to reintroduce legislation to amend the Constitution of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to reduce the size of the General Assembly.

I propose to reduce the size of the legislature by 40 percent, decreasing the Senate to 30 Senatorial districts and the House of Representatives to 121 districts.

The savings of this reduction is estimated to save the citizens of the Commonwealth in excess of $115 million dollars.

Previous co-sponsors were Erickson, Folmer, Brubaker, Robbins, Piccola, Earll, Browne, D. White, O'Pake, Pippy, Tomlinson, Boscola, Kasunic, Ferlo, and Smucker.

Introduced as SB324
