| Subject: | Resolution Designating September 10-16, 2017 as “Direct Support Professionals Week” in Pennsylvania |
| In the near future, we plan to introduce a resolution designating September 10 – September 16, 2017 as “Direct Support Professionals Week” in Pennsylvania. As many of you know, direct support professionals and support coordinators assist individuals by helping to improve their daily lives. Direct support professionals work throughout the Commonwealth to provide skillful and compassionate services and support for seniors, people with developmental disabilities, people with mental illness, and those with chronic medical conditions. The efforts of the direct support professionals allow those in need to live with dignity and comfort in our communities and should be lauded. One day is not enough to properly thank our direct support professionals for the skillful and unselfish work they do 365 days a year. To that end, it is for these reasons and more that we are proud to offer this resolution recognizing the important work these professionals provide to our neediest and most vulnerable citizens. Please join us in sponsoring this resolution. |
