Subject: | Private First Class Cyril Thomas Yeckley Memorial Bridge |
In the very near future, I will be introducing legislation to rename a bridge in my legislative district to the Cyril Thomas Yeckley Memorial Bridge. PFC Yeckley was born on October 20, 1945 in Carrolltown, PA. Specifically, the bridge is located on the portion of Friend Lea Road that spans across Route 219, Ebensburg, Cambria County. Private First Class rifleman Cyril Thomas Yeckley served in the United States Marine Corps when he began his tour in Vietnam on February 23, 1969. On March 13, 1969, PFC Yeckley engaged in hostile action in Quang Nam, South Vietnam and was killed in action having died of multiple fragmentations wounds. PFC Yeckley was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Purple Heart, Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal. Please join me in honoring PFC Cyril Thomas Yeckley. Thank you. |
