MEMORANDUM

Subject: Recognizing Congress' Commitment to Eradicating Cancer

In the near future I will be introducing a resolution highlighting the money dedicated to fighting cancer in Congress’ budget. The funding bill that passed last week includes an increased appropriation of $2 billion to the National Institute of Health.

Additionally, $475 million has been appropriated to the National Cancer Institute. Current funding levels for cancer control programs at the Center for Disease Control, including National Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening Programs, have been sustained.

Please join me in letting Congress know that fighting cancer is of the utmost importance, and continued funding of programs is vitally necessary if we are to eradicate cancer all together.

I ask for your support on this very important issue.
