Subject: Organ and Tissue Donation Awareness Trust Fund Income Tax Check-Off

In the near future, we plan to introduce legislation that will extend the personal income tax refund check-off for the Governor Robert P. Casey Memorial Organ and Tissue Donation Awareness Trust Fund.

The Governor Robert P. Casey Memorial Organ and Tissue Donation Awareness Trust Fund was established in 1997 to help heighten awareness about the need for organ and tissue donation and inspire more people in Pennsylvania to sign up as organ and tissue donors.

Utilizing the check-off provided on the PA-40 tax form, individuals can designate all or part of their refund to the Trust Fund. Currently, the tax check-off provided for in statute is set to expire on January 1, 2018. Our legislation would remove the expiration date.
