MEMORANDUM

Posted: March 31, 2017 02:55 PM
From: Representative Jared G. Solomon and Rep. Francis X. Ryan
To: All House members
Subject: Replacing the Term "Elector" with "Voter" in the Pennsylvania Election Code

In the near future, we plan to introduce legislation amending the Pennsylvania Election Code to replace the term “elector” with “voter.”

The term "elector" is archaic, confusing and perhaps even misleading to those who hear it. Currently, "elector" means "voter", but no one would know that unless they had detailed knowledge of the Election Code.

In replacing the term, we hope to take one more step towards making our voting process more understandable.

Please join us in supporting this commonsense change to the Election Code.

Introduced as HB1208
