Subject: | Designating The Month of May 2017 as "Preeclampsia Awareness Month" in Pennsylvania |
In the very near future, I will be introducing a Resolution designating the month of May 2017 as "Preeclampsia Awareness Month" in Pennsylvania. Preeclampsia, including HELLP Syndrome and Eclampsia, are dangerous conditions of pregnancy that can, in their severest form, lead to maternal and/or infant mortality or premature birth, with significant health risks for the mother and the baby. As many as 320,000 cases of Preeclampsia are diagnosed in the United States every year, with 25 percent of these cases being classified as severe. I hope you will join me in co-sponsoring this Resolution. Our goal is to reduce the incidence of maternal and infant illness and mortality by raising public awareness of the dangers of Preeclampsia and related hypertensive disorders of pregnancy. Your support is greatly appreciated. |
