Subject:	Agricultural Education

In the near future, I will be introducing legislation that will more effectively deliver agricultural education in the Commonwealth by combining current separate efforts in the PA Departments of Agriculture and Education into one efficient joint venture. This Commission would provide a leadership structure and philosophical home base for agricultural education. Specifically, the Commission for Agricultural Education would be charged with developing state approved agricultural educational standards that dovetail with state academic standards, approving programs of agricultural education, strengthening career pathways through relevant industry certifications and supervised experiential learning, and assisting with the facilitation of the school-based FFA Organization. Agricultural education serves as an exemplary model of STEM education while providing students with skills necessary for career success. Thank you for your consideration.
