House of Representatives
Session of 2017 - 2018 Regular Session

MEMORANDUM

Posted: February 9, 2017 10:17 AM
From: Representative Robert F. Matzie
To: All House members
Subject: Legislator Financial Interest Act (Former HB 1979 of 2013-2014)

In the near future, I plan to re-introduce legislation which would establish the Legislator Financial Interest Act.

If passed, this legislation would prohibit members of the General Assembly from holding a financial interest in or serving on the governing body of a school entity which includes a charter school, private school, and business or nonprofit corporation that manages a school and receives funding from the Commonwealth.

Legislators are currently prohibited from holding a financial interest in numerous entities that receive an appropriation from the state. Such exclusions should be extended to similar interests in school entities in order to ensure the fair and equal representation of all interests. Your consideration and co-sponsorship is appreciated.

Former House Bill 1979 of 2013-2014 - Previous Co-Sponsors: J. HARRIS, KOTIK, O'NEILL, KORTZ, GIBBONS, MUNDY, HARHAI, CLAY, SCHLOSSBERG, SWANGER, CALTAGIRONE, PAINTER, COHEN, MOLCHANY, O'BRIEN, MURT, ROEBUCK, WHITE, EVERETT, D. COSTA, DeLUCA, TRUITT and DEASY
