House of Representatives
Session of 2017 - 2018 Regular Session

MEMORANDUM

Posted: February 2, 2017 10:31 AM
From: Representative Thomas P. Murt
To: All House members
Subject: Amendment to the Pennsylvania Constitution Regarding Term Length of House Members

In the near future I intend to introduce a joint resolution to amend the Constitution of Pennsylvania to increase the term of elected office for House representatives. Under current law, Pennsylvania’s House representatives are elected every two years.

In my legislation, Pennsylvania House representatives would be elected every four years. Arizona, Louisiana, Mississippi, and North Dakota do the same.

I believe that by extending the length of our terms of elected office, we will have more time to focus on serving our constituents. Please join me in cosponsoring this legislation.

Introduced as HB894
