MEMORANDUM

Posted: January 12, 2017 11:13 AM
From: Representative Anthony M. DeLuca
To: All House members
Subject: Employment of Undocumented Workers (HB 748 of 2015)

In the near future I will be re-introducing (HB 748 of 2015) amending Title 18, which would require that any employer found to have employed an undocumented worker shall be subject to the suspension or revocation of their professional or business license by the applicable authority or agency and shall also be fined a $5,000 penalty.

While we passed legislation requiring public works employers to use the E-Verify system to determine the employment eligibility of job applicants, it is important that we do everything we can to help preserve jobs for our citizens. My legislation goes on step further to ensure that employers with professional or business licenses also face consequences for hiring undocumented workers.

I invite you to join me as a co-sponsor of this legislation. Thank you.

Introduced as HB459
