MEMORANDUM

Posted: December 1, 2016 09:26 AM
From: Representative Brandon P. Neuman
To: All House members
Subject: Officer Scott L. Bashioum Memorial Bridge

In the near future, I intend to introduce legislation designating a bridge on State Route 980 over the Chartiers Creek in Canonsburg Borough, Washington County, as the Officer Scott L. Bashioum Memorial Bridge.

Officer Bashioum of the Canonsburg Police Department tragically lost his life while serving in the line of duty on November 10, 2016, at the age of 52. On the tragic day Officer Bashioum’s life was abruptly taken, he was responding to a domestic violence call during which the alleged shooter, who took his own life, also killed Dalia Sabae and her unborn son.

Officer Bashioum was a seven year veteran of the Canonsburg Police Department as well as an assistant chief for the Slovan Fire Department, Company 18, where he earned lifetime membership honors. Prior to career in law enforcement, Officer Bashioum proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Persian Gulf War and Operation Enduring Freedom. After 29 years of service in the United States Air Force, he retired as a senior master sergeant.

Please join me in honoring this dedicated public servant and American hero by offering your support to this proposal. Your consideration and co-sponsorship will be greatly appreciated by the Canonsburg community which continues to grieve the loss of Officer Bashioum and remains committed to preserving his memory.
