| I plan to introduce a Resolution, which will designate the week of June 11 through June 18, 2016 as “State Veterans Home Week” in Pennsylvania. The backbone of this great nation is predicated on the honor and memory of those heroes that have risked their lives to preserve our freedom. It is paramount that the memory of each and every brave soul lives on throughout our Commonwealth and the nation. Thus, it has been a privilege for this Commonwealth to support its veterans by providing those renowned veterans in need with a home for the past century. Located in Erie, Hollidaysburg, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Scranton and Spring City, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is home to six state veterans’ homes. It is appropriate that the entire Commonwealth recognize the sacrifice that has been made by our brave veterans. I urge the citizens of this state to journey to these homes and give their thanks to the men and woman who fought for our nation as well as the employees who assist them now. Therefore, I ask you to visit and provide your support to our veterans and the beautiful state veterans’ homes, and I ask you to join me in honoring our veterans and the veterans’ homes by becoming a co-sponsor on this resolution. Please consider joining me in sponsoring this important resolution. I will be introducing the resolution 4:00 PM on Friday, June 10th. |
